Patient Group

Keyworth Medical Practice (KMP) has an active Patient Participation Group (PPG), a group of volunteers who are all patients with the practice. The group has been in existence since 2007.

The practice is committed to improving their services within governmental and financial constraints and the PPG are able to bring suggestions and ideas on how to do this.

There is enormous change within the NHS, which will impact on us as patients and a patient voice is even more important. The new NHS constitution defines specific roles for Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), GP Practices and PPGs. The local commissioning body (NHS Rushcliffe CCG, previously known as Principia), of which KMP is one of 12 members, fully endorses these and PPGs have an important and defined role in ensuring that patient views and opinions are fully taken into account.

Act as a representative group that can be called upon to influence the local provision of Health and Social care

The PPG sets its own terms of reference, determines its own action plan and activities according to the needs of the community and the practice itself, and is fully supported by the practice medical and administrative staff.

The PPG has produced guides to assist the practice and its patients get the best results from consultations and other facilities offered by the practice. These can be viewed by following the links here.

Virtual membership

Whilst the KMP PPG is currently full, it is not a representative cross section of the community the practice serves, so we are looking to develop a “Virtual Group” to enable us to access the views of a wider cross section of the patient population. Not everyone wants to attend meetings, but would like to be involved in “having  a say”. This virtual group would be contacted by E mail, post, or telephone and asked to fill in questionnaires and reports, and give opinions and comments. They would not receive agendas and reports relating to meetings. Responses provided would be anonymous and confidential.

Virtual Group members will not be given confidential patient information and personal details provided by patients joining will not be divulged to anyone outside the PPG, in line with the confidentiality terms within the full PPG terms of reference.

If you would like to join the virtual group please fill in this form and hand in to reception. Application form

If you would like further information or an informal chat before applying, please email keyworthppg@mail.com and someone will contact you.

The group will not be involved with patient complaints, which should be referred to the Keyworth Medical Practice in line with their complaints procedure.

Bereavement group

The PPG set up a self help bereavement group a few years ago to help those suffering as a result of bereavement. For more information please telephone Peter 0115 9373773. It is a very friendly, welcoming group.  Click here to view a poster. Click here to view a leaflet.
